  3. @M.Seidam, excited to be back in Sweihan, look forward to it! As it's quite a way out, having full tank of petrol is always challenging. https://goo.gl/maps/eNb39s5avGjq8go2A is the ADNOC station I am aware of. If someone knows any other one closer to the starting point, please post it.

  4. Dear friends hello and welcome to "Sweihan Drives" This will be my first drive leading in Sweihan desert which will continue in the coming weeks inshallah hence i named it "Sweihan Drives" exploring most of it before we head further south reaching Al Ain , waqan , and another areas and who knows we might end up reaching the yellow truck , Liwa and empty Quarter! Regarding this one i preferred to start with an area i have visited last year. we will start from E16 Al Taf Road heading West with the sun rising behind us, gently riding the first dunes to get acquainted with the landscape. After the initial warm up we will start tackling the big dunes that make Sweihan such a fantastic off-roading place, enjoying all the climbs, the crests, the ridges and - above all - the large bowls it offers, moving a series of high and complex dunes in an exciting sequence of climbs and rides around some of the biggest and deepest bowls to be seen around before completing our loop back to E16. Please make sure your vehicles are in perfect shape ( fluids, lubes, breaks, tires and the spare including the tool to replace it , recovery tow points ... etc ) as its a demanding terrain and the toll on your cars are going to be tremendous while tackling especially the huge bowls. I am very excited already from now and hope you are too stay tuned for further news closing to the event time great week ahead Seidam

  5. it was the shortest warm-up ever ( i would say 5 tire rotations ๐Ÿ˜…) before @Hisham Masaad unleashed the Power of his Fj against the soft big dues of shuwieb, where everyone tired to keep up with his pace . The unfortunate event with @Ranjan Das Jeep changed the plan into finding the safest and nearest exit which was amazingly planned by @Hisham Masaad and @Islam Soliman and executed by the mighty @Karthik Raptor Bro amazing driving, it not the V8 that made it possible but its the great driver behind the wheel ( Hats Off ).๐Ÿ’ช Shuwieb is really unexpected, as @Hisham Masaad and @Islam Soliman went to find a safe exit , i got myself pulled into a very soft and relatively small pocket but them saved by the rope of our wonderful Support @Waqas Parvez ( thanks Man for the Tug) . The friendship bond that you can feel between the convoy member was very interesting to witness on that day . usually we don't get the chance as much to sit, chat, and discuss different topics. but you could tell that everyone was worried about @Ranjan Das car and hoping to get it out to the safezone in one piece. @Imteeaz flowless SL @Sunil Mathew @MMansoor , @ASAD., @Mohamad Anwer @Vaibhav always great to see you guys, i am sure we will conquer shuwieb next time ๐Ÿ’ช. @Ranjan Das i hope your car issue is fixed , looking to see you soon .

  10. Hi All Planning to provide new feet to my JLU Sahara. Key issue i have is that i want to stick to stock rims i have i.e. 18Inch - limiting my options as most brands have limitations in size when it comes to R18. Both 33inch and 34 inch tyres can fit into my vehicle. Driving Style - Along with being my weekend offroader, its my daily drive as well, So onroad experience matters. However, my average mileage isnt that high. Have done 40K in almost 3 years in my present tyres. No specific plans for Wadi drive (perhaps once in a while). Looks Preference : Surely like the aggresive look, however, not too concerned about it. Look vs performance, i will take performance at all times - both onroad and off-road. Request your advice on below options Option 1 : Cooper AT3 (4s or XLT) - They have the biggest tyre size available in R18 - 295/70/R18. However, have heard that its sidewalls arent the best and they arent very reliable tyres. 4S i understand is better than XLT onroad and in sand. Option 2: BF Goodrich KO2 - Though not many options, could find 275/75/R18 in them. Understand a bit heavy however known for their performance. Looking for direct feedback based on usage. And is it worth going for these while compromising the size vis-a-vis Cooper (lose 1 inch on ht as well as width) Option 3: Yokohama Geo - Understand very nice on-road and off-road. Again the size is a challenge best i could find is 275/75/R18. Lightest of the lot. Request advice on is it worth comprising one inch vis-a-vis Cooper. And if better than Cooper (despite size limitation), how they fare compared to BFGs. Thanks for your advice.

  12. Thanks Got, you @Murad Hamed managed to get it out. And you are ok, and full of energy to rejoin us soon again. @Brette @Fabien Monleau @TT_Dubai @Benjamin you done a fantastic day!! You took care of us and were extremely helpful in one the most critical and challenging moment of my car driving of the whole life. It reminds me, just a second and our lives could be changed, even we expect exiting moments.. so happy i am a member of this club. As was mentioned several times, it is more just a club, it is almost like our familyโ€ฆ

  13. @varunmehndiratta i would suggest first you check what size tire will fit in your jeep without any rubbing, even though you can go upto 34 inch tyres the width will have some rubbing issues. (unless you lift or install spacers). im all in for geolanders due to excellent performance, good road comfort and reasonable price.

  14. Dear Friends, It was my pleasure meeting you all on a beautiful saturday morning, we start sailing about 6.30 after clearing the fog. As per my initial plan i wanted cover lot of long range high dunes, but due to previous day rain sand was damped and very slippery. after about 30 mins of driving i believe due to wet sand condition @Jessica Lambert had a pop out at the exit of slide slope. it was quick fix with help of all the members and we started to sail again searching for clean sand. finally we managed find some dry clean sand to enjoy some high ride and ridge riding, but the strong wind to slip face made it verse to ride the ridges, so we played it safe on some medium range dunes, Through out the drive we had fare share of all the experience. high ride on long range dunes, ridge riding, slide sloping, high speed baja run in the sabka and lot of technical dunes as well. im very happy with everybody performance until we reach our exit point at solar park. very good discipline through out the drive and helping each other on recoveries and stucks. ๐Ÿ™ my special thanks to @GauravSoni appearing as special guest and helping all of us through out the drive. @Haitham Khattab you did great as second lead, reliable second lead behind lead is always peace of mind for the lead. ๐Ÿ‘ @Gregory thank you very much for all the support through out the drive for all the recoveries. ๐Ÿ‘ @Senthil Kumar thank you for all the update from behind the convoy ๐Ÿ‘ Thank all other members as well @Jessica Lambert @Peter Hager @Ignacio Quindรณs @Tareq Al Turq @Sam K @Gerrit Bus @Imran Kashif @Tareck for great team work and enthusiasm through out the drive. hope you guys enjoyed the drive. see you soon next time. cheers, have a nice week ahead.

  15. @Sayed Bilal the switch located near the gear knob does not kill the traction control completely. I was lucky enough to have 2 team members advising me, after more than 40 drives using the above set-up, how to completely kill the traction control. The switch is located right above your brake pedal; you need to press the brake then feel with your fingers for 2 small push switches. Press the left one for 2s and the another traction control light will show on your dashboard. Needless to say that your engine should be on; you need to repeat this (similar to the other switch next to the gear knob) every-time you switch off your vehicle. Unfortunately holding the switch for longer does not change anything. @ASAD. I was planning to install a kill switch, but then got the solution from Sam and Rob; my AED350 stays in my pocket. Drop me a Whatsapp on 0558970942 and i will share a short video as well.

  28. @varunmehndiratta, I second @Rizwanm2 i have Geolander 285/70/17 (33 inch) and they are great on-road and offroad. i dont hear much noise from tires on road and still maintain a smooth ride ( i put air at 32/32.5 bars on road). Off-road pretty good grip. Done 15k KM on them so far. Also, they are less expensive than BF & Cooper. The only difference i would say vs. BF or Cooper is it lacks the aggressive look, mainly due to thinner sidewalls and normal tread design, I installed 2.5 inch lift case for the same reason of avoiding rubbing. If you your considering 35 inch, with the stock suspension (softer than adjustable ones, where you can control compression & Rebound) probably consider 2.5โ€ instead of 2โ€ inch lift kit and wheel spacers to avoid rubbing against bottom of the fender, specially on bumpy high climbs. Best of luck with your search

  40. Dear Desertnauts while usually the desert inspires meditation, silence, or at most listening to the notes of soft lounge music, this time the sands will vibrate with the sounds of one of my youth's favorite hard rock songs: Speed King by Deep Purple. Imagine taking off to the notes of this........ Probably not everyone's favorite desert melody, but certainly perfect to describe the mood of this drive ๐Ÿ˜
