Drive report
We started off as expected and tackled some small dunes before heading into larger long range dunes with long corridors . The recent rains meant the usually pristine sands had little ‘land mines’ all over them in the shape of shrubs and bushes . I carefully picked a path to avoid as much bumps as possible, the effect of a small shrub at high speed can be quite damaging so with that in mind we traversed the dunes making our way to the sabka. We had some minor stucks and refusals along the way .
When we reached the Sabka there was an audible gasp as the convoy laid eyes on the high ridges , beckoning us forward . This is where the fun really began! With the clarion call of “Yalla” we thrashed the dunes . We travelled further into the less travelled side and as we did so the dunes became higher and the ridges sharper! “Go fast or Go Home” was the instruction and the convoy didn’t disappoint . We continued at pace, avoid the land mines in our path, getting atop of those razor sharp ridges.
In amongst the glorious long ridges is a fabulous swirling bowl, I had marked it and was desperately seeking it when finally I spotted the location and the convoy whipped around it , not once , not twice , but thrice ! It’s so much fun! Yes we had some stucks, cars are liable to get crested when we have so many ridges , and the odd refusal as the sand churned up. But it was nothing that you wouldn’t expect and no one driver had more than another. It is also expected at IM level that you choose a cleaner path, you don't need to follow the tracks as you would at less experienced levels, perhaps some of you chose the wrong path
@Armanthat gorgeous silver wrangler keeps you trucking along and you had a very good drive
@GoutamIt was nice to see you again after such a long time, I think you only had one minor refusal. Good driving
@Jorge Stepniak Felippe You had the roof down and the whole family with you and still managed a flawless drive. Well done! I hope the family enjoyed your driving.
@Mario CornejoThe last time I drove with you was back at fewbie level, it's great to see the progress you have made and a flawless drive from you. Well done.
@Thomas VargheseJust the one stuck I think and a couple of refusals Thomas, nice driving, I would ask when next you find yourself having a refusal that you step out and assess the situation. You know better than most what your car is capable of and how it is reacting. At IM level it is expected.
@Jon MYou had a good drive, there was one moment I had my heart in my mouth as you slightly oversteered. Perhaps the difference from the dinky SWB Jeep by comparison to the Montero? Otherwise, good drive,
@GauravSoniAnother very accomplished drive from you , almost flawless , just that one refusal in the churned sand. Well done.
@Jack ThomasNice driving Jack and a lovely stuck haha aside from that no major issues from you. Well done.
@WatteauNice to see you and your better half again, flawless drive and perfect winch man. Well done.
@Shehab AlawadhiHave you bought that lady of yours a Jeep yet? YALLA! haha. Well driven , I don't recall you having any issues .
Thank you to my support team of @Jeepiererouting perfectly, great to have such experience behind me. @Yousef Alimadadihandling the recoveries and stepping in when needed and @Islam Solimanfor sweeping up everything at the back.
Until our next adventure- 9

Drive Brief
Mighty dunes, steep climbs, a labyrinth of bowls and a hefty dose of adrenaline. Sharjah's wonderful star dunes have it all
We shall start at Area 53 and then make our way tackling each high dune in our path. The dunes will be scarred from the constant flow of traffic. There will be marauding dune buggies , darting quad bikes and crazy tourists who entrust their lives to the kamikaze drivers from the tour operators 🤣 but it's a Saturday and that my friends is the best part. The traffic in this area is greatly reduced which means we get to experience it as fully as we can.
What I expect....your A game! Yalla!
For our fasting friends , I aim to finish by 7.30pm Iftar should be around 6.56pm and Isha prayer 8.17pm
This drive is organized in full compliance with the COVID19 guidelines. We expect every member that joins this drive to go through below information and and strictly follow these guidelines in order not to jeopardize someone's health, and to ensure we can keep organizing these drives safely.

What many don’t know, is that Angela is the first friend I met here in the UAE, a work colleague that quickly became a very dear friend, showing me around and including me in every adventure she planned, and as you can guess, she plans a lot of those 😂
I still remember the first time she talked about trying this desert driving thing. She did do a couple of drives with other clubs initially, but I suggested Carnity as I liked their approach when I was looking for a car and used their forum to get reviews.
once we both started driving with the club, it quickly became a hobby. However, Angela’s persistence, perseverance, sense of challenge and love of teaching led her to this deserved promotion. I am so happy to have been part of the process and see my friend get the recognition she deserves for her hard work and extensive knowledge.
Congratulations @Foxtrot Oscar🍾🎊🎉🎈

Thank you all for the kind words. I am so honoured to have been awarded this position. (It does feel like an award) Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever be a Carnity Marshall. I’m chuffed to bits
I remember my first drive with @Desert Dweller(Jamy), who introduced me to Carnity, I was her passenger, and we were both really scared with the first up and over dune. We looked at each other and said “They want us to do what? OMG!” 🤣 However, under the incredible guidance of the Marshalls at that time @Gaurav, @Emmanuel, @Frederic, @Srikumar @Ale Vallecchiand @Rahimdad. I found my desert wheels, and my confidence grew. I met others along the way, @Wrangeld @Chaitanya D @Vanessa8580and @Brette all of whom helped me and passed on their knowledge.
I’ve had terrible drives, Sweihan springs to mind, where I think I was stuck more than I was driving with @Srikumar. And I’ve had great drives, ridge riding with @Ale Vallecchi as his 2nd lead. IM drives with @Emmanueland more recently night drives with @Chaitanya D. all of which taught me something new.
I was then given the opportunity to take my desert driving to the next level and join “Team Carnity’ and under the tutelage of @Gaurav with his infinite pool of knowledge the learning experience grew exponentially . If you think you know it all , trust me, you know nothing until you lead , Again I was taken from my comfort zone and the memory of coming up the back of Faya with @Frederic behind me and no one in front of me, when once more I was gripping the steering wheel and thinking OMG!! Is never far from my mind when driving.
But t’s not just the driving, which I absolutely love. It’s the Carnity community, I love being out there with you all. I know we all have each other’s backs and we all try to have a good time on our adventures. So thanks to everyone I have ever driven with, who have helped me along the way and made me roar with laughter. Aside from @Craig Finlayson….he’s a bad un😎- 6

There are very similar LED strobo-lights meant for use with quadcopter drones and therefore very resistant to impacts, water resistant and with fitting mechanisms that would allow to fix them on a small diameter pole like the flag's one. There are, as for the bycicle ones, some versions which come with rechargeable battery. It's basically the same exact concept of bicycle ones, only that they are smaller and more powerful as they are designed to be utilized at great distance and some versions also in full daylight.
@Foxtrot Oscarvery cool! So you have the whole pole lit?
Yes, like a light saber hahahaha

I bought this, added extra wiring that runs along the inside of the boot/trunk and attached a car cigarette lighter charger (I have one in the rear) I then attached it to my flag pole using cable ties.(It runs the length of the flag pole) Seems quite secure but I'll soon find out haha All in all it cost me 30AED (via Dragon Mart)
N.B It is quite heavy but then I have a heavy AOR Flag and a solid mount so....- 3

Hi Angela
I am returning after a while , writing this from Cairo... hope to catch the drive keep up the pace.See you soon .
Cheers Probir
Hi @Probir Mukherjee, nice to have you back! As much as I would love to have you accompany me on this drive, it would be remiss of me not to advise you to do a Fewbie or Fewbie+ drive as your first drive back after such a long spell away from the sand .
You’d be surprised by just how ‘rusty’ we get when we’ve not been in the sand for a while. It’s better and safer for you to find your desert wheels first before attempting an IM drive . I’m sure you understand that my main priority here is your safety .
There’s a few Fewbie drives to choose from on Friday morning. If none of these are suitable then I’m sure there will be a weekday Fewbie drive posted at some point too.

Drive Brief
Faqa is without doubt one of the most scenic areas that we can venture off road. It has everything, stunning dunes, beautiful greenery and of course, sands as far as the eye can see. But don’t pay too much attention to that as this area also has difficult terrain that will test your off-road skills.
We will start at the usual spot and head into the fabulous long and high dunes following the familiar route. There will be plenty of opportunities to side slope, criss cross and climb our way through until we reach the Sabka. Normally a Carnity convoy will head towards Solar Park however, this is where we will change direction. The less travelled route heads towards the Abu Dhabi border where we will find the most spectacular practically virgin sands, with razor sharp, long range dunes that scream out for us to bash them down with our skid plates as we ride atop of them. We will continue along these dunes heading in the direction of Faqa which will eventually lead us back to the road, via an underpass, which ensures we never cross the border.
Are you with me? Yalla!I aim to finish by 7pm, If you are fasting Iftar should be around 6.52pm (bring a snack and water to break your fast) and Ishar prayer at 8.11pm
This drive is organized in full compliance with the COVID19 guidelines. We expect every member that joins this drive to go through below information and and strictly follow these guidelines in order not to jeopardize someone's health, and to ensure we can keep organizing these drives safely.
