Thanks @varunmehndiratta. Fun drive yesterday with minimal refusals/stucks considering the soft sand. My youngest returned with a big smile on her face!

Great write-up @Thomas Varghese .
I just want to thank everyone in the convoy for helping safely recover me and my LC yesterday. Everyone mucked in, with @Shaaz Shaand @Looper demonstrating expert leadership skills.
The desert certainly has a knack of humbling us. I am annoyed with myself for ending up in such a precarious position. A combination of fast pace and very soft sand on those slips faces required razor sharp reaction times. I simply didn’t react quick enough on this particular slip face as I started to lose momentum.
The feeling as the vehicle momentarily lifted up on the far side before coming to a rest is one I sincerely hope I don’t experience again!
Clearly still plenty to learn, but at the same time it’s events like this that demonstrate the great team ethos of @Carnity and the skill and experience the leads and support team possess.

Hello Boyz, As you all know, @M.Seidam dropped the exploratory plan since he is cov+, therefore I'm taking up this drive ... So it's no longer an exploratory drive, but rather a typical IM drive at Faqa. Thank you for joining up, and I hope to see you on Sunday
@Shaaz Sha looking forward to it. Please can you advise meeting point?

Sorry to hear that @M.Seidam . Get well soon.

@Rizwanm2 thank you for a great drive this morning and congratulations on completing your first drive as a lead.
I chose this morning’s fewbie drive thinking it would provide plenty of opportunity for my daughter to get out and play with her sand board. Well we were both in for a surprise! The convoy flowed beautifully and we had minimal amount of stucks and refusals.
@Rizwanm2 your choice of route was excellent, giving us a taste of ridge riding, criss crossing, side sloping and hills climbs.
@Thomas Varghese provided solid support in 2L and @Hisham Masaad in CF position.
Well done @Sam K @Jonny90@Gurcharan Mehta @Sunil Mathew- 2

Hi @Ale Vallecchi I notice the start point is TBC, but in the meantime are you able to give us an indication of the vicinity /area we will start from?

Dear Friends,
@Thomas Varghese @Sam K @Jonny90 @Waqar Sarwar @Shahid Mehmood @Sunil Mathew @Tom B @Hisham Masaad
Thank you for signing up for this drive. im very eager to hit the dunes tomorrow morning, Our plan for tomorrow is to get an early start from Nazwa farms towards pink rock, There are plenty of nice dunes to practice some ridge riding and criss cross. after crossing pink rock will head towards south. There are plenty of medium range clean dunes in this area which is my favourite. our grand finale will be at big red dunes as an end to our grand sand buffet...
I will post convoy numbering and radio channel details later today. Hope to see you all tomorrow morning 5.00 AM
Looking forward to it!

@Mike. totally agree with everything you have said. I also think that for a lot of members in the club, myself included, part of the fun during their off-road "journey" is to spend time researching about modifications, talking to others about their experiences with similar mods and then actually taking the plunge and getting the modifications done.
Personally, I feel all the upgrades I have done have benefited car handling performance both on road and off road and has made things that much more enjoyable when I am in the dunes.
Each to their own as they say!

Hi @Mike.. Judging by some of the comments in the thread I bet you wish you never raised the topic in the first place!! Unfortunately the subject of mods within @Carnity is a contentionous one to say the least . That’s why I decided to keep my car as close to stock condition as possible.😉
Anyway, to your question, I had exactly the same issue last weekend with my Toyota land cruiser. Last week I took the plunge and changed my stock 18in rims and 285/60/r18 AT tyres to 285/70/r17 wheels / AT tyres. The new set up results in about a 1” dia increase . I didn’t experience rubbing on the road, but during last weekend’s drives, I did notice that when in deflated condition and when turning as the suspension was extended, I got some slight rubbing on the mud flaps. As @Gaurav says, it’s probably something one can live with, but I don’t like hearing dodgy sounds when driving in the desert so decided to get it corrected this week. In my case, and I am not sure if it can be done for Pajeros, my garage performed a body mount chop. Clearance between tyre and mud flap is now significantly bigger and fingers crossed I won’t have any issues this weekend when I give it a test in the dunes.
As said, I am not sure if the same mod is applicable to Pajeros, but I am sure if you visit a competent garage you will get sound and constructive advice on how to correct the issue.
In the meantime I hope you enjoy your new setup. For me it was definitely worth the investment. My LC cruised up the tall dunes in badayer last weekend when previously it had found it a struggle.

I hope everyone made it safely to the exit and the recovery wasn't too troublesome.
@GauravSoni absolutely incredible drive today. I felt on the limit at points!
@Looper thanks for the support and sorry for burying you in sand at some points due to my over zealous use of the throttle! Will continue to work on that.
@Daniel Rodasand @Simon Dawood, was fun following you guys and seeing you launch your Pajero's off various dunes!
See you all soon.

Thank you @Ale Vallecchifor a great drive yesterday afternoon. It was nice to explore a new area and the convoy performed superbly considering the softness of the sand and ambient temperatures hitting 48 C!
The long range dunes around Faqa area were particularly fun.
