  3. @varunmehndirattaThank you again for such an amazing drive, full of surprises.

The drive was short but sweet; I really enjoyed my Sunday drive.  Looking forward to another drive this coming Sunday.

@imranaasghar81 your instructions were crystal clear for all of us throughout the drive.

@Beide Worku buddy i hope that you have been able to get your car fixed; we were worried when you jumped on the other side of that tall dune.

@Morshedi awesome SL mate - keep it up.

@Sam K thank you buddy for sharing the trick on how to control my car (and traction) rather than the other way round - looking forward to experience this a bit more this coming Sunday.

@Jose Thomas not my first drive with you mate - the Xterra is a beast, that needs to be handled with care.

@Mahmoud Taha you rose up to the challenge mate - well done

@salah2u first time i have seen you pushing your car without fearing a pop-out dude - wise decision to change the rims/tyres.

@Prakash Anoop you were amazing in your Jeep

@Haitham Khattab apologies mate, was calling you Adam at one stage during the drive - you handle the Jeep like an expert

@Imran Kashif you keep amazing me how you push the FJ mate

@takeshi sobue you driving with 2 passengers - not an easy task.  and yet you still manage to climb all the dunes without any issues - well done

Looking forward to drive with all of you in the near future - the team spirit was outstanding.

    Cheers

  4. @varunmehndiratta@Beide Worku @Morshedi @salah2u @Gertjan @KAMALIO @takeshi sobue

what a drive.... started after the sunrise, and after couple of warm-up dunes, @varunmehndiratta really pushed all of us during the drive.

i remember before the drive that @varunmehndiratta was making reference to Intermediate Drives, where the radio was kept silent; well for most of the drives, our radios were barely used.

the couple of refusals experienced by us (including pop-outs) were reminding us that the terrain was not an easy one, with couple of steep dunes, super-soft sand, and lots of tracks.

the mighty Nissan Y61 struggled with the climbs; maybe time for me to look into an ECU tuning for additional HP and traction.

my youngest son accompanied me today after couple of months; he was so excited with the ridge riding, the climbs, the criss-cross, just to name a few of our achievements today.

looking forward to drive again with such an amazing lead, and outstanding convoy - we should be proud of ourselves.

enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    cheers

  5. @Ale Vallecchi first time driving under your lead - it was epic…

@Ashok chaturvedi + @Tom B simply amazing at keeping the convoy together and driving at all times.

we started the drive when it was still blazing hot (49 deg at some stages), i was keeping a close look at my engine temp as the AC was running full blast.

2 - 3 minor stucks, which were sorted out within seconds..

Looking forward to our next drive with the same convoy.

    enjoy the weekend

Another good drive with @Hisham Masaad and the team on Saturday.

From Hisham's more leisurely drive the previous weekend, this was a characteristic Hisham drive, and we heard the expected "Yalla push!" a number of times throughout the drive 🤣. Some beautiful terrain and dunes 👍 👍

Thanks to @Amr Aydin, @Mohamad Anwer and @Waqas Parvez for the support and keeping all moving and in check.... No stucks, few refusals, and a F1 style popout fix added to the good pace of the drive.

@DP1011 , Deepak wrangler hope your son recovered fully after the drive. He did well!

@Imteeaz hope you managed to sort your tyre out, after the drive.

    Have a good week everyone.

@Gregory thanks Gregory for the tips after the drive.  the car was shaking on Saturday afternoon/evening while i was with the family.

so finally took the car to a garage on Sunday and a 'lot' of sand was removed; no damage to the PMS thanks god.

@Hisham Masaad amazing drive for my first time in Mahafiz - the pop-out was sorted out by experts like @Waqas Parvez @Mohamad Anwer @Santoso Marjuki - thanks team.

@Waqas Parvez your tips were well-received mate - will try to implement this coming week.

    Enjoy your week.

    Drive Report:

The week leading up to this drive was a hectic one for me and i was very much looking forward to have a nice time and the drive turned up Action packed!

Having dealt with a Flat tire  i reached the meting point at 5.50 and found the convoy deflated and ready! Thankyou all for waiting:)

We had a quick briefing and then headed out towards the dunes just behind the " Three Trees" near the solar park dirt track. Attacking every possible ridge , from hard side, slip side we made our way towards Lisaili fort. The dunes were occasionally very soft on the top and with a long convoy meant soup sand for the second half of the convoy.

Brilliantly driven by the whole convoy. You did quite well @Joseph Raju for your first Second lead. well done!. The only feedback i have is to practice maintaining a distance from the lead where you have visibility of the track taken but safe enough to stop when you see the lead struggling on a patch or asking to reroute to avoid any nasty dune.

While going over a ridge , expecting the unexpected, i came across a cutaway on the dune topography which quickly became unavoidable. having stopped on the slope and asking Joseph to reroute the whole convoy, i tried my best to navigate the pocket and ended up tilting my car with passenger side front wheel high up in the air. The only thing holding me from having a Sideways flip was the sand sidewall on my driver front wheel.

Quick thinking and support from @Mario Cornejo, we added some" weight" to the passenger side and reversed the car out to bring all wheels to ground. However, while getting out of the pocket, i ended up having a pop out which required a multiple dual rope tugs from Mario which was coordinated by @Gok Krish and @Charbel. Team effort and persistence finally paid off when we got the car out on the flat and fixed the popout.

image.jpeg.abcac1a3519a387fd3955e5f6c8fed9c.jpegHaving lost quite a bit of time, we continued our journey finding ridges to practice our skills. We had a some refusals and stucks ( same place twice by same car!!) requiring shoveling and tugs. This was a good learning opportunity and i believe we all learned something new about ourselves and our cars!

we made our way to the exit at 9 am ad the sun really started to take its toll and were out on the dirt track at 9.16 AM.

    Well done to everyone!  @Joseph Raju  @Imteeaz @Prakash Anoop @salah2u @ASAD.@Senthil Kumar .

special thanks @Mario Cornejo anchoring the convoy at the back with brilliant support from @Charbel and @Gok Krish for managing the Center flawlessly.

This drive was just a sneak preview of the many skill themed drives that are in planning.

Hope to see you soon on the next chapter!!

@Gaurav Soni Amazing first FB+ drive for me mate.

You really tested my car and my ability to keep up with the convoy.

Looking forward to our next drive - hopefully next week.

    @Joseph Raju @Prakash Anoop  @salah2u  @ASAD.  @Senthil Kumar  @Mario Cornejo  @Charbel  @Gok Krish

It was a pleasure to catch up with you again.

    Cheers

    Dear Dune Surfers!

Welcome to the First Edition of the Skill Drive series!

    @Morshedi @Shaker @Trekado @Imteeaz @Tom B @Joseph Raju @ASAD. @Senthil Kumar @Chris Wing @Charbel

As mentioned in the Drive Post, the intention of the drive is to focus on the Ridge Riding skill. we would be entering near the construction area on Qudra road near the solar park. ( check meeting point ) and making our way to some comparatively big dunes with very soft slip faces. This area will offer some nice ridges to drive on however, the ridges can be deceiving due to recent high winds. we will be keeping safety as our 1st priority.

Please confirm if there are any change in your plans so as to allow waitlisted members.

@Thomas Varghese @salah2u i am working to see if i can include you in the drive. please confirm if you are willing to join.

I will post the convoy order and radio channel details by evening.
