Definitely I will tell you as I am not sure if we are supposed to discuss garage names here.

@Srikumar I was under the impression that anything 6 mm or more was better and hence got then fixed as I felt they were pretty solid to take the brunt as the radiator was very low in xterra.

Awaiting opinions from other xterra owners here , which will help others who are planning to put a skid plate on their xterra.

I feel 10 mm is an overkill. @Emmanuel and @Asif Hussain what have you guys put?

i would not say 10mm is an overkill for xterra.  i installed 10mm skid plate with radiator bracket and after about 8 months offroading skid plate and bracket was slightly bent.  its better to inspect skid plate every service interval.

just an adive if anyone is installing skid plate for xterra, please make sure there is enough space between radiator and radiator bracket. so incase of any penetration radiator is not effected.

  2. with the GCCVIN decoder you can check the vehicle specs and details. here is the link.

    https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/check-lookup/5N1AN0N61BC501592

its a factory offroad version. it should have all around yellow bilstein shocks.

i bought my xterra about 9 months back. that is also after continues search for about 4 months. I came across lot of lemon cars during my search specially offroad version.

my advice is don't buy in a hurry do the research and test drive as many as possible. when you test drive couple of cars you will notice flaws in each once. try to test drive a low mileage high priced pristine onces as well even though its out of your budget.    then decide the right one for you and get it thoroughly checked it from a trusted mechanic.

    Good luck.. 😊

    2 @Lakshmi Narasimhan

  5. Hi @Rahimdad

i saw earlier there was a spot open in RSVP. but i did not sign in, however when i checked now RSVP limit has reached.

not sure who has left and join the drive.  To be fair and equal to all the members i would like to suggest a system control to block the RSVP once drive is reached its limit. when someone leave, only drive lead should be able to add the next driver to the drive list. Other wise there is no point in waitlist.

Thanks Srikumar - Actually I was looking for a dedicated car for me as a daily driver and weekend drives. My intent is to stay away from the LC200 which is predominantly used by the family.

Montero Sport seem to meet my budgets with relatively less mileage in general. The FJs and Y61 (my desired) at my budgets are being too hard to find.

This was the dilemma I had wen i was looking dedicated off roader. I was looking at some monetro sports and but ultimately i settled with 2012 xterra offroad version.

I do not regret single bit of my purchase. Its a monter when offroading and chill enough to daily drive as well.

For an equivalent budget of low mileage Montero you can find latest 2014-2015 xterra.

@Abu Muhammad  Thanks for your message, but one of the criterias to join an extreme drive is as follows: « Vehicle - Able to do continuous long hill climb without any gearing or power-to-weight issues ». Sorry, I hope I can enjoy an IM level drive with you soon.

    @Rizwanm2 and @Mohamed Seidam, welcome

Thank you. @Emmanuel .  cant wait to experience the new adventure.

Nice videos  @Mohamed Seidam . Hope you had a clean ridges to ride after me  😜

just a suggestion to @Carnity Admins @Gaurav . SInce there is limitations to upload big video files to gallery how about giving an option to add youtube videos to gallery. so will have all pics and videos in one place. a memorabilia for future.

also add the drive discussion thread link as well. so we will know what an eventful day it was 😃

@Rizwanm2 I tried to get out with Rd locked for a couple of minutes. The wheel spun with no movement. With traction ON with rd locked, the wheel found a little bit to nudge the car downwards and eventually get out.

this trick imitates front differential lock with no effect on the Rear differential.

That is interesting to know.  thank you for the update.

    Thank you @Frederic @Mohamed Seidam

I agree and thank you for the clarification.

my point is who ever wants to use this trick should not engage rear diff lock (if its equipped in their vehicles).

i am big fan of rear diff lock, its been piece of cake for all self recoveries. but will give a try next time to use this trick 😃

My bad @Frederic  You already explain this in your previous post. Just now only i saw this. 🤭

Hi yes this will also work, but not in combination with your rear difflock activated. So you could do like this:

    1) First attempt with traction control OFF and rear difflock OFF

    2) Second attempt with traction control OFF and rear difflock ON

    3) Third attempt with traction control ON and rear difflock OFF

The problem is that Mitsubishi disables your traction control automatically when you go in 4Lo with Rear difflock ON.

Because of this, some guys in Australia designed a double-functionality killswitch that would enable you to engage your rear-difflock AND traction control at the same time. That would be in theory the most interesting feature for self-recovery.
