I felt a good difference post changing the fuel pump, but not a game changer. the mechanic says it might be one of the gear output chips, but to be honest i am not sure. However, this is not the reason as i will ship the car to Jordan today where i will spend 5 weeks driving around the country northern mountains and southern desert (Wadi Rum). if you are planning to come along give me a buzz :)

Enjoy your vacation 🙂.. hope you have some good adventurous drives !!!

Lot of places to visit in my bucket list and Jordan is one of them  🙂... Will have detailed discussions once you return, ...just being keen on the experiences of fellow wranglerinos !!!

  2. Was a great drive @Anish S, with the support of @jodha singh shekhawat and @Brette, and our 2L @Chris Wing

This was my second time in Big Red, and i gained confidence in tackling the area. The last time i drove here was with @Islam Soliman and i had my share of refusals, and also had an element of fear within me , seeing the high dunes and soft sand, I remember Islam, having to re-route through another approach as i could not get over a ridge after multiple attempts. Thankfully, i was able to experiment with the tiptronic this time with more confidence and timing of shifts

Hope Charlie @Zixuan Huang - Charlie fixes his car soon and joins us back next week.

Another point worth mentioning as a feedback  - i was able to witness and observe , challenging self recoveries by @Brette, not once , but 2 times when he was stuck in a soft sand pocket and at a very awkward angle in one instance. It was absolutely a visual treat seeing the techniques - and with the JGC without a proper diff lock, i presume?? I was so intently watching , that i forgot to take a video which would have been a good reference for posterity!!!  On one instance, everyone was sure that some shovelling is required and i saw Anish and Jodha already out with their shovels moving towards Brettes car, but before they could reach, he was out  :-)

My first experience with @Carnity was for a masterclass. @Wrangeld was my instructor and after a few hours we were taken by surprise by a sandstorm. Richard asked me on the radio if I wanted to exit or continue - we continued. We drove 45 minutes in the sand clouds and this encounter with the desert made me respect it even more.

Today, while following @Anish S and when we came across the sandstorm, I had a throwback :) and this time it was a bliss. As usual, Anish you took us through challenging dunes, criss crossing and ridge riding at a surprising pace given the conditions but that the whole convoy kept up with. We almost never stopped... until one big refusal that had us all dig. That refusal was a very good case study on how to get out from a very tricky situation.

Thank you again @Anish S, thank you @Gaurav for the support and advices, thank you @Anoop Nair @Marwan Haddad @Sunil Mathew @Ben84 and see you in 2 weeks :)

why 2 weeks ? taking a summer break ? lot of convoys  will miss you in 2L :-)

  4. Thanks to @Anish S and @Gaurav Soni for leading and supporting the drive, and our permanent 2L @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil :-). Not to forget the ever present @Veedooshee and her guidance for the recovery we had.

We had a short convoy of 7 cars, and we rode in radio silence for most of the drive, except for the occasional admiration of the scenery around by @Gaurav Soni and   some very minor refusals/re-attempts.

And then came the game changer towards the end of the drive with a stuck by @Anoop Nair, which took some time with couple of cycles of  shovelling and tugging.

For me it was an afternoon and evening well spent , away from work midweek

    1. I got to use my shovel for the first time 😀👍, and see  from close quarters, a how @Carnity leads handle recoveries,

    2. We got an unexpected 1.5 hrs of night drive as a bonus 👍👍

    3. I was experimenting with the idea of "2500 rpm challenge/concept"  put forward by Richard @Wrangeld on one of the coming weekend drives in my own way keeping an eye on the tacho, which was a real eye opener for me. Come to think of it, i realized that all these days i was unnecessarily pushing the car through long side slopes and was unable to sustain/control the car for longer distances. As the route chosen by Anish was a blend of technical and longer sideys , i got to practise this aspect and got a feel of slower and controlled riding as well, instead of just dashing through dune sides and hurtling down uncontrollaby when exiting the side slope. More fine tuning required here, but i expect to get it right with practise.

At one point, while getting on the ridge and exiting , i lost my judgement due to the wind blowing on top of the crest making it difficult to see the shape of the crest and see the ridge exit point taken by the cars in front, This caused some fishtailing and slow down , which resulted in a refusal for @Ben84. Reminiscing the  chit chat sessions with Ben regarding the Terraflex shocks and lift kits he had installed. @Marwan Haddad was driving in front of me without any issues. 👍👍

Here is a video i created, tinkering with the iMovie in the Iphone, not something great but just a fun activity during some free time i got using some standard trailer templates. Excuse the quality and focus :-) ..planning to  install a dashcam later

  5. Was a wonderful, nice, technical mid week drive , thanks to @Anish S and support team @Lakshmi Narasimhan, @RooRzOn. and 2L @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil....and not to forget @Marwan Haddad who created a new position called 3rd Lead 😂

as L and 2L were in-seperable at times due to the nature of terrain !!

the drive was worth the early "bunk" from my worksite 😉, every minute

Right mix of intense technical stuff and fast paced long range dunes, cross overs, broad ridge rides etc.

Sustaining long sideys still prove to be a challenge for me, as i lost confidence mid way on couple of them, and exited early. Waiting for the right technique to present itself, as i get to practice more :-). This mound of sand on long side slopes, created by the cars in front always scares me, as a pivot for roll overs, so the moment i see a fairly high sand mound, my mind goes blank 😃

Tried to create some video links..excuse the quality and vibration...taken with iphone on a 50AED holder

In my first ever ride with other group I was advised to remove the fuse.
This was the most wrong thing I ever did. For sure my car got stuck. And since there is no fuse, the computer lost some information about what is going on.
It ended up no traction. And lost the 4 wheel. So it was only 2 wheel working. With even an alarm saying 4wheel service. So the car was saying bad words to me.

I drive a JKU2015, and i always pull out the J6 fuse, to disable ABS and TC. (Pull out and re-install fuse only when engine if off and key is out of the keyhole)

Completed 15 drives with Carnity and no issues at all.

Not sure, about JL, maybe due to different electronics.

Lot of JL owners in the group, tagging some of them @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil, @varunmehndiratta, @Goutam

  7. Thanks for the nice and challenging ride @Islam Soliman, it really helped me to widen my limits and conquer my fears, and go beyond what i am used to.

Driving behind our Jimny man @Nathan Evans, who was 2L, i could always see 2 tracks , the wider ones of the behemoth yukon of our lead @Islam Soliman and second - the very tight ones belonging to the Jimny , and very deceiving,  if i try to follow the latter!!!

Keeping up the pace and choosing the right exits from bowls in  low visibility was really a challenge and our lead Islam definitely deserves a round of applause for doing this safely, although i think we could not fully execute what he had in mind for us due to the fog, nevertheless!!

Thank you @Hisham Masaad for the tug, the first one in my life 😀👍...thanks to the patience of all fellow drivers , as i think i got crested unnecessarily at a very easy spot, the fear of rocks on the other side, as warned by Islam, was the culprit and resulted in my hesitation in giving gas.

All in all , the drive definitely gives me a sense of satisfaction and achievement, as @Islam Soliman was mentioning in his closing brief.

Thanks again to the convoy, until we meet again,

Looking forward and coming back for more!!

  8. Thank you @marks, @Jeepie and @Nabil Bishara for the leads and support on the drive.

The drive was more technical rather than an adrenaline pusher, offering great oppurtunities to improve throttle and steering controls,  choice of tracks/lines etc and as @Warren Flay mentioned , occasionally "intense" 😀👍.

@Russhad his first shot at giving a tug to @Tareck who, with his pop out and stucks , added flavour to the drive. Good job as centre forward Russ, i can see a carnity support team member in the making!! 👍👍

Same here, lost a large sum of money last November in a matter of 15-20 seconds from the debit account (fraudulent bank transfers). No OTP ... nothing, it just was swiped off our acount. Bank blocked all our cards immediately but it took 5 months to get the money back.

Oops ...looks like this is more common than i expected.

  10. I normally use Apple pay and Samsung Pay with credit cards, but never with debit cards. so no pin entering required, only fingerprint authorisation on phone.

but i fail to understand how they can complete the transaction without the OTP. either they should have access to your email or phone messages, right? assuming they copied your debit card details, eg. take a photo of front and back,
