The Xterra was behaving little sluggish from the start of the drive and credited me with some refusals and stucks. Thanks to the team overcame all the difficulties. Fortunately after @Shamil's trick of disconnecting the battery to reset the ECU and restarting from the flat area at iftar bowl the Xterra found its sprint back. The drive back home was very exciting as the machine was responding instantaneously to every small thrust of the throttle. After couple of refusals I was thinking what happened to its power. Thankfully everything returned to normal after the ECU reset but got to check with garage if the MAF sensor or throttle body is dirty as @Shamil suggested. Overall I am very happy to own the beast as it proved its very sturdy and down to earth technology employed by the manufacturer. The nasty ditches and bumps the Xterra took it like piece of cake. I was afraid after the nose hit the sand very hard so many times that the machine will fall apart or maybe the suspension will crack. Next moment the Xterra sprints like nothing happened. Wow. Kudos to Nissan for bringing out such a sturdy 4 X 4. Built like a ROCK. Sad they discontinued it.

Will check tomorrow if any sand has gone inside the MAF sensor or throttle body which made the engine run at safe rpm's. Its been more than 10 drives in the sand after the last clean up.

The MAF sensor is fine I believe as I blew off some sand from the sensor of your truck. I would suggest you drive the car for a few days and see if the error resurfaces. And if it does, then get it checked from a reliable garage for usual suspects like sand in throttle body, cam sensors etc

@Gaurav @Emmanuel @Rahimdad @Frederic @Srikumar @Ale Vallecchi a deepfelt thanks for this vote of confidence. This has been a year of learning, and growth that has been empowered and anabled by all of you.

@Shamil @Brette @Asif Hussain @sertac @Kalahari @Vanessa8580 @Desert Dweller @Foxtrot Oscar @Chaitanya D @Tbone (really hope I did not miss soneone out, yikes!) thanks for supporting, keeping us all honest in this game, showing the way for everyone else that loves being out there in the sand. You've all played a big part in enabling me to get to this promotion - I can happily let you all know where you had the biggest impact if you have any doubt about that.

And to the rest of the Carnity family, who have been kind enough to come on drives I led, or allowed me to support them in their efforts, thank you. Without these opportunities to grow and learn, the marshals would never be in a position to work out the solutions we sometimes need to find on our drives.

As we keep saying, this is a team game. None of us can get anywhere without the other and we never ever leave anyone behind.

See you soon in the sand.

congratulations @Wrangeld. this is a well deserved title indeed. Way to go and looking forward to many fun filled adventures with you in the sands.

  4. Hi everyone, so the convoy numbering for the drive tomorrow will be as below:

    image.png.8b4c7f3869b422fc23c0349b580b6ee6.png

We will use radio frequency #2. The plan is to start off at a comfortable pace, play around a bit on the broader and longer dunes within the area and eventually make it up to fossil rock. If time permits, we will try and head towards faya for some extra play time and eventually exit out towards the adnoc gas station on the sharjah-maleha road. Looking forward to a fun filled drive.

Bro - you have been one of those kind, friendly supportive people making this journey so special and enjoyable. I am 100% sure that it's a matter of weeks till you get your deserved promotion, which I am sure would have been much quicker if your car had not played us a few times. You are truly a gentleman among gentlemen and I am not going to forget, ever, your kindness in saving the day when my friend Matt came over and you offered to lead the drive just so we did not let him down. That's the sort of man you are and why you get all the plaudits you do.

Thank you for your kind words Richard. Off roading for me is all about getting out there every week and having a good time and the cherry on the cake is when i get to meet the most kind and selfless people like yourself in the process. Looking forward to many more adventures with you.

@Febin Frederic, @Mahmoud Hamzawy @Jeffrey Osito Pilgreen please click "Totally Agree" on the main drive post thread by today as we need a formal acknowledgement from your side that you understand the regulations under which the drive will be conducted. This is for your safety and those who would be driving with you.

If "Totally Agree" click is not done by today, the trip lead has the right to not consider your name while making the convoy numbering tomorrow and also offer the space to someone else.

Just a quick reminder, i will be posting the final list of participants with the convoy numbering by 6pm today. @Mahmoud Hamzawy, i believe you are signed up for the newbie drive on the same day and since you have clicked on "totally agree" on that drive, i assume you wont be joining us - please reconfirm. Also @Jeffrey Osito Pilgreen - please reconfirm your attendance by 6pm today by clicking "totally agree".
