    Dear Desertnauts

in preparation for tomorrow's drive, there is a change in store for you. As I have just returned from travelling abroad with a bit of sore throat and a few lines of fever, I have agreed with @Frederic, who was listed to support the drive, that it will be him leading tomorrow, while I complete my recovery. It would have been an honor for me to have the Legend Fred as support, and it will surely be an honor for you to have  him in the lead. You are in the hands of one of the most expert off-roaders in the UAE.

The drive will still start from what we call Bab al Shams area (that is where our Absolute Newbie drives start), just off the tarmac road going and coming from the Bab al Shams Resort. Please, park just beyond the bike track, to the right of the exit, being careful of any oncoming bikers while turning off.

The drive, as planned, will explore the western and southern area of the Qudra basin, part of the Al Marmoon Reserve (look out for gazelles and oryxes).

Frederic will post the convoy order with the next message.

@Paolo Pellegrini, @Andrei S, @Anoop Nair, @Ben Lee, @Ron.P, @Ashutosh Garg, @Ignacio Quindos, @Thian, @george charbel, @Yaseen87, @James Lovell and @DP1011, I will be looking forward to driving with you at the next available opportunity. Enjoy the drive.

Get well soon @Ale Vallecchi Will follow you one the next one.

I usually go after every drive to the Emarat station just after JA salik gate.

I ask them for a full steam wash, i use etisalat smiles application and i get 35% discount.

I tip the guy washing the car 20aed and another 30 for the guys drying and vacuuming. Believe me the car returns back as if coming out from the showroom. I usually prefer to clean the airfilter myself after every drive as well once I reach there.

With a gd tip they will spend 90 to 120min on your car.

Last week, they had a new crew on the day shift, I had to stay next to them and tell them what to do.

Same here I use Autopro in Motor city and tip the guy who does the washing 20 AEd and 30 for the guy who does the vaccum. the car come out spotless and by now they all know me and cleans it to my liking.

Goodmorning All ! And thanks for signing up for this drive !

For the ones who have joined us before on this type of drive, you probably know by now what to expect of it, but for the members who join us for the first time in this type of terrain, there are some differences to what you can expect from it.

    1) This is not a dune-bashing drive, more a kind of exploration drive which covers a mix of dunes (some of them quite technical), and some farm-tracks as well.

    2) This drives allows us more do some sightseeing of donkey's, camels, farms, and vegetation. In combination with the deep red sand this makes it perfect for taking shots with your camera.

    3) We will be exiting in Falaj Al Mualla, a quiet town in Umm Al Quwain. Feel free to roam around after the drive and take some nice photos !

The overall aim is to have a great morning out in this terrain, and to focus on the scenic part of it, rather than to fly over the dunes. I hope you understand this makes it no less fun.

Make sure to bring a flag, radio, and shovel. For every Newbie drives, that is needed and mandatory for being able to join.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask them on the forum here.

For the waitlisted members, as soon as existing RSVP members sign out, you will be automatically added to the RSVP list. So keep an eye on it throughout the course of the week.

@Anoop Nair did you forget to stop the recording, that total time is a lot. Moving Speed and Moving time looks like it was a fairly fast paced drive.

Hi @Looper, you are right. it took us almost 6 hours with around 2- 2.5 hour spent on a recovery towards end of the drive on a soft patch with an overhating car between a fence and sand wall. It was an epic recovery as well with 2 cars connected together with a rope pulling the stuck car with all cars on an incline. We started from Dubai around 4 am and reached back around 5 pm 😁 @Gaurav Soni @Ranjan Das
