Popular Post Wrangeld
Dear Qudra Conquerers, Please see the convoy numbering for the drive tomorrow morning. It's a big convoy so please make sure you arrive on time (or even a bit before, so that we can deflate quickly and get on our way. @RaYan E @Kailas @Gok Krish @Syed Raza Hussain @Karthik Krishnakumar @Shyam Karat @Mahmoud Asar @Piotr Kolodziej @Nitin Mohan @Yusuf Esaf @Mohamed Abo ElKomsan @Rizwan Waheed Morning Newbie Desert Drive South Qudra 9 Oct 2020 Attendees Level Car Radio Pos # Wrangeld Marshal Mitsubishi Pajero SWB Y 1 Lead Franco Swart Fewbie Mitsubishi Pajero SWB Y 2 2nd lead Nitin Mohan Newbie Toyota Landcruiser Prado Y 3 Gok Krish Newbie Jeep Wrangler SWB Y 4 Kailas Fewbie Jeep Wrangler SWB Y 5 Karthik Krishnakumar Newbie Jeep Wrangler SWB Y 6 Piotr Kolodziej Newbie Toyota FJ Cruiser Y 7 Lorenzo Candelpergher Intermediate Nissan Patrol Y62 Y 8 CF Syed Raza Hussain Newbie Mitsubishi Pajero LWB Y 9 Mohamed Abo El Komsan Newbie Mitsubishi Pajero LWB Y 10 Rizwan Waheed Newbie Mitsubishi Pajero LWB Y 11 RayanE Newbie Mitsubishi Pajero LWB 12 Yusuf Esaf Newbie Nissan Patrol Y62 Y 13 Mahmoud Asar Newbie Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Y 14 Shyam Karat Newbie Jeep Wrangler LWB Y 15 Foxtrot Oscar Advance Nissan Xterra Y 16 SW As you are all newbies, you should have your own radio - there will be no spare radios available tomorrow - which should be tuned to Carnity Channel 4. There will not be time to program radios at the departure point. Please make sure that your radio is preprogrammed. It goes without saying (but I will say it anyhow ) that if you don't have a radio, you don't drive. What to expect tomorrow morning: You will be challenged: For some of you this will be only the second time in the sand, so bring your A game - better to be without distractions if possible, because the terrain will be more challenging than you had before. We will move faster: At Absolute Newbie level for your first drive we take things slow and easy. Now the fun starts. expect to be moving a little faster than before. You'll need to keep up with the convoy and watch out for the person behind. You'll practice, practice, practice: Newbie level is about getting the skills needed to move further in your desert aventure, so expect to be crossing a lot of dunes, probably up and over so that you get used to what your car can do. You'll get stuck: It's going to happen, and if it does not you are possibly not trying hard enough. It's also really important to get stuck from time to time. How else do you learn how to get out of those situations. The seniors on the drive will be there to help you when it happens. The landscape we will be crossing tomorrow has nice wide dunes and some technical dunes as well. The wide dunes are great for gaining confidence in driving on sand, the technical are there to help you learn how to cross terrain, how to control your car and how to control yourself. The aim of tomrrows drive is to have fun, learn and if we can make it, drive all the way from South Qudra back into the Qudra lakes. This will depend totally on the convoy performance. That's not a challenge to anyone. What we do at Carnity is a team game, so we make sure first and foremost that what we do is safe, that everyone gets out of the desert (as well as into it) and where we can that we make the event exciting. Looking forward to the drive tomorrow with anticiapation of a great morning's fun. Just to confirm, our seniors tomorrow morning: @Foxtrot Oscar who will be sweep. The job of sweep is to make sure that the convoy is moving and no-one is left behind. The sweep also handles the recoveries through the drive that cannot be managed by the Centre Froward. @Lorenzo Candelpergher will be our Centre Froward. His responsibility is to be the first line when there are refusals and stucks. @Franco Swart will be second lead. The second lead's job is to follow the drive lead (at a distance) and reroute in case there is a need to go a different way. Please post any questions you might have here in the forum. See you soon in the sand. 8 4

Vijaysekhar
Hey @Wrangeld, something seems to be off. I had confirmed for this ride on last Sunday. But today, when I logged on to check for updated i realised that my name is missing from the list. Any thoughts/ suggestions. I am still keen to participate. Let me know.
Wrangeld
Hi @Vijaysekhar I cannot recall seeing your name on the list. We cannot add you now I am afraid. Will investigate with the team. I did not remove your name so not sure how it could happen.

Lorenzo Candelpergher
Dear @Wrangeld This was meant to be a relaxed newbie drive where, having borrowed my wife's LR4 while my Nissan Patrol Y62 was getting fixed, I just had to roam around for occasional recoveries and enjoy the early morning sun. It turned out quite a "physical" drive, with a lot of shoveling, a pop-out to fix + a spare wheel replacement, several tugs and.. the "perfect stuck". It had been a while since I had last put myself in such a nasty place as this morning, however a superb team effort made the recovery possible. For sure to keep on driving would have been preferable, however I think this complex recovery was quite an interesting one to watch during a newbie drive. Thanks to everyone for their great help and patience. I still have to come to terms with the bizarre behavior of my wife's LR4 (first time I was taking her on the sand) pneumatic suspensions, that can be lifted for off-road use but would lower down automatically if driven above 40 km/h. Whenever I got in trouble today it was because I found myself with unexpected reduced clearance, ie on my belly rather than on my wheels. Whatever my wife may say, I prefer my fat and powerful white whale. Everyone did very well today, kudos! I could closely watch @Piotr Kolodziej who was right in front of me: you did great. If you get used to maintain a bit more momentum, you will avoid future refusals as the ones you experienced today. Thanks to @Foxtrot Oscar for the double tug today: your presence is always a warranty of plenty of help for everyone. Yusuf Esaf
@Wrangeld @Srikumar @Gaurav I have completed more than 6 drives in newbie. Do I qualify for the next level? Really excited to face more challenging dunes and learn more. @Wrangeld @Lorenzo Candelpergher @angela great drive today.
