@Foxtrot Oscar it was a great drive. I learned alot as 2nd lead. I was impressed with everyone's driving on the night technical. Thanks for the nose dive lesson!
And what a nose dive it was!! The sand was like a brick wall! 😳
That’s the first time it has ever happened to me. But I’ve dug plenty out of similar situations and knew I could get out , just didn’t know how long it would take 🤣🤣

Drive Report
“this drive is primarily about getting you comfortable crossing dunes and navigating your car in the sand”
After that drive, I think it is safe to say that you are all comfortable in the sand.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
We set out promptly at approx 3:10 and made our way along the track. We drove with zero issues for such a long spell that I decided I would take some more challenging routes. You handled them too. We did a little ridge ride on a nice, low , curved dune and even managed a criss-cross. Quite remarkable for a newbie convoy.
Everyone handled the side slopes, no issues, we had a couple of crests, including my own (oops) and a handful of refusals but nothing of note.
We even had a night drive through technical dunes , I’m amazed that only resulted in a couple of refusals , oh yeah and my nose-dive. Thanks for the shovel work to get me out of that one, we were out pretty quickly.
Honestly , I’m amazed at how well you all did, especially the guys at the front, who were doing their first Newbie drive @Goh KP @Gertjan @Brendan White fantastic driving. Also, @Mohammed Mansoor @salah2u and @Alexanderrr who were handling the soft sand further back in the convoy. The Fewbie guys at the back who had the additional challenge of dealing with the churned up sand , which is no easy task, @Daniel Rodas @luis mantecon and @Zed all of you had very good drives.
Big thanks to @Wade Pat2 for executing the perfect 2nd lead , I really appreciated having you behind me, to @Niki for his assistance at CF , with his calm, precise instructions to help the few who had refusals and to @Pacific for making sure everything was going smoothly at the back and helping with a couple of refusals too.
Apologies for delaying you all on a Saturday afternoon/evening. It was purely down to me being over ambitious. You did incredibly well, especially when fatigue was kicking in and darkness fell.
Thanks again for being an absolutely tremendous convoy.
Until our next adventure.

Hump day it was surely bump day drive with all the bushes around ….it was my first drive in Dubai and with great convoy . I wanted to experience different side of uae with more of white sand but for some reason I felt like the sand was more like a dirt track of Abu Dhabi desert may be the rain ☔️ toned the sand dunes nevertheless the dunes were very technical which put my LWB pajero to test as it loves fish 🐠 tailing 😅 with few side drives I manage to control the car better ….. special thanks to @Foxtrot Oscarwho lead us from start point to end of without any hindrance ….. @Gouravsoni who kept me awake 😇….. hope to catch up for next drive soon with everyone ……. @foxtrot Oscar I thought I was promoted to fewbie + but was demoted in this drive to fewbie 😂….

Drive Report
It was billed as a chilled midweek drive , hump day desert bump day to blow away the stresses and strains of the working week. It did exactly what it said on the tin , all thanks to an excellent convoy who drove impeccablyIt had been a while since I’d driven in Murquab and I was surprised by how changed it appeared, perhaps the recent rains ? I’m not sure ; what I do know is there was a distinct lack of tracks making the area seem like it had never been driven on. Some of my favourite 'play areas' were no go zones due to the shrubbery that had appeared but nevertheless, we criss-crossed, side sloped and ridge rode our way to the Sabka without a single refusal, driving in silence aside from the reassuring voices of @Hisham Masaad and @GauravSoni reporting that all was well.
Once we crossed the sabka to Solar Park area we continued as we were , I picked up the pace and we drove as we had done for the first 1 hour or so . The ridges in Solar Park seemed less intimidating, their ridges smoothed by rains and cavities created by winds. It provided another type of challenge but no less enjoyable.
Special mentions to @Bernard Kalaani and @Mus_hus78both of whom are pretty fresh fewbies and handled absolutely everything , well done
@Gilbert Khalil, @Santoso Marjukiand @Senthil Kumarwho had great drives . Also to the the gang at the back who got through the churned up sand @Christopher Assaland @Sunil Mathew
Many thanks to @Pacific for executing the perfect second lead, a vital role in any convoy, he listened clearly and carried out instruction without missing a beat. Further thanks to@GauravSoni and @Hisham Masaadwho didn’t have a lot to do but were on hand when needed .
Thank you all for a great midweek drive
Until our next adventure

Drive Report
Well that was a whole ball of fabulous! Fewbie? Really?
As we arrived at the meet point we could see that the rains had visited the area. We started out in the nice playful dunes that allowed us to ready ourselves for what lay ahead. We meandered through without issues, finally arriving at Pink Rock. The entire convoy coped wonderfully.
The sand was so forgiving, it was hard and compact from the rains, and having watched the convoy execute criss-crossing and handling the steep ascent to the top of Pink Rock it was clear that I could increase the level and the pace.
The route from Pink Rock to Big Red is a dream area for a Fewbie level drive, those dunes allow us to practice manoeuvring around sweeping bowls and crossing into others, they’re low, and wide so they’re more forgiving. But they didn’t need to be as for the first two hours of the drive we didn’t have a single refusal.
We pushed on at a really good pace and entered the steeper dunes just before Big Red, we climbed and swept over and the refusals came, one by one. To be honest it was only to be expected as the sand churned at the back and we encountered the Kamikaze Tour Jeeps. These were the only other vehicles we saw until I saw the round lights of @jeepie winking at me from across the dune.
We moved on to Big Red and attacked it from the back end, our ascent to the top halted by a ‘gram’ thirsty lady having a photo shoot. I think she distracted a couple in the convoy as we had another couple of refusals.
I wanted to see the Sunset from the top , so we descended and swept around to climb the beast from the ‘road side’. Again. the steep climb in the churned up sand proved too much for some but we all got there in the end and enjoyed the setting sun from the top of Big Red.
I pointed out the end point and famously said that we wouldn’t have any difficulties getting back down, that was until I decided to drive into a deep , sticky pocket. It was a bit of a pickle but I was soon out. @Desert Dweller re routed the convoy to a more suitable descent and we all ended up on the tarmac at exactly 6:30pm.
I can’t begin to say how impressed I was with everyone on the drive. I mentioned that the sand was forgiving, but the dunes still had to be navigated.
@Bernard Kalaani – you had a great drive, kept with the pace and had zero issues. Likewise @Naim Aoun and when you consider you had only has 2 or 3 Fewbie drives prior to this then you did incredibly well.
@JamesThorn @Kenneth Bollhardt@Stav, all had the task of climbing up dunes in the churned sand, you had one or two refusals but nothing major and to be expected on these dunes. Great drives, well done.
Many thanks to my support team today, @PaoloMaraziti for a great 2nd lead, always leaving enough distance and communicating well. @Lawrence_Chehimi who anchored everything for me in the middle, and @Desert Dweller for sweeping up at the back,
That we only had to get the shovel out once for the entire drive speaks volumes re the high standard of driving. Thank you all so much for listening to instructions and communicating well. It makes leading a convoy so much easier.Lastly, thanks for indulging me, I asked you to step it up and by goodness did you deliver,
Until our next adventure

@Islam Soliman I remember the first drive I did with you way back. I think it was the Sky Dive loop. It stood out for me as I watched you perform a brilliant self recovery under the instruction of the drive lead @Chaitanya D and @Ale Vallecchi. You listened to everything that you were asked to do and followed the instruction perfectly.
Of course you then progressed rapidly, and soon became a permanent member of support on any drives I led. That you made it to Marshal is no surprise given how well you executed those roles. I've yet to support one of your drives, that is something we need to change soon!
Congratulations on a thoroughly well deserved promotion to Marshal!- 7
