  2. Drive report

Absolutely agree with what @Loopermentioned in above message, it was indeed a 100/100 fun considering the short convoy of 4 cars .
@takeshi sobue did well for a 2nd lead , though we had hardly any issues as we hit some nice clean dunes for the most part. Rising fuel prices and soaring temperatures have taken a bit of toll - in a nicer way to keep the dunes clean in an area which is mostly studded with cross tracks. Impressive driving and clean climbs all the way to the top of big red

@Zulfikhar Naiyar drove well in his xterra except for some refusals and minor stucks/ crest. You did well playing in “D” for the most part , but as you progress you need to play with your gears for the long steep climbs . It is just a matter of time and practice which will get you there easily.

last but definitely not the least @Looper presence on the drive added that reassurance that we played at a reasonable pace without holding back. Great team man to have on any drive - with full of enthusiasm and something new every time on his yellow Jeep 😜😀.

have fun you all, u till we meet next time sooner or later.

    Scorpion Sting

Despite this subject is well explained in many of the posts in our carnity forum, I wanted to create an awareness based on my personal experience.

On Saturday night, we, 4 families along with kids were camping and star gazing in Al Quoa Milky Way spot. On this night, my spouse became an innocent victim to a scorpion sting when we were sitting on the sands. Before the incident happened, unfortunately she removed her shoes to clean up the sand and sat for some time with bare foot - which caused all this. Thanks to guidance from carnity, we had clicked a foto of that tiny thing, in order to show to doctor for proper diagnosis.

Within the span of five minutes her entire left leg turned numb with deep burning sensation and she couldn’t walk or place her leg on the floor (sting happened on her left leg foot, below the thumb finger).

I immediately called the ambulance using 999 service, who rushed to the spot in less than 45 minutes and checked all her vitals including BP, pulse rate, blood oxygen etc. and confirmed that everything is normal. We went to the nearest seha hospital in the ambulance which is in Al Wagan area and the doctors treated her with pain killers and anti allergy injections.

The pain (severe to moderate) lasted for 24 to 36 hours, post which she was able to walk comfortably. Pain still continues to exist (slight level) in the respective area, which should go off completely in next 24 hours.

    Key Takeaways:

    1. Do not panic and keep your hopes high and blood pressure at normal levels.
    2. If there is no giddiness after 15 or 30 mins, there is no problem at all. In case of giddiness, then this requires some quick treatment along with antidodes. Numbness and pain are quite normal in this case.
    3. As per Seha, none of the species in UAE desert are venomous and thus there is no antidode required. (They haven’t given any antidode to my spouse). The hospital staffs said they see more than 5 cases in a day with such instances.
    4. Dont rush to hospital yourself, as this needs some specialises practical experience to treat such incidents. City Hospitals may lack that speciality. 999 ambulance is the right option. We visited NMC Urgent Care, the next day morning, due to severe pain - they reviewed the treatments provided by Seha and informed that there is no further treatment can be provided there. Time is the only heal for this pain with few pain killer medications.
    5. Be ready to withstand the pain for 48 hours.
    6. Lastly, never remove shoes.

Special thanks to @Gaurav and @M.Seidam for your care and advice over the phone.

Tons and Tons of Thanks to @Asif Hussain, who drove all the way during such late hours, to help my friends in removing the car from sand while I am attending my spouse in the hospital. Asif Bhai, you always hold a special place in our heart for your kindness and support. Our respects for you is on highest levels.

Glad to know it all ended well and was an experience to learn from. Stay safe @Karthikeyan Govindarajan, well done team Carnity 👍🏼

A huge thanks @Chaitanya D for this lovely experience of leading a drive through the most awesome of long range dunes in Dubai. From choosing the starting point to planning the route, convoy ordering and eventually turning this partial lead to almost a full drive lead  - you simply made it an wholesome immersive learning experience for me. 🤘🖖

Whole convoy (except map mixed up case with @Abdul Basit Khan) was right on time at Lisali Camel track and crossing through the dust track we entered the notorious Lisali's tech dunes at 6:30am,  With lead handed over to me, the plan was clear, we breezed through the initial tech dunes and within minutes we were exploring the unexplored beautiful long range dunes of Lisali. After my last few drive in Qudra area, it was a relaxing sight to find some really beautiful dune with no cross tracks and early morning sun rising through east provided the trigger to  SPEED UP :). Convoy responded well to the challenge as crossing and side slopping through these beautiful dunes we reached DCT Waypoint 2 within an hour with only some minor refusals and need for a one soft tug executed perfectly by @Alfred Alinazar

We had a quick briefing and demo about basics of criss-crossing and were again speeding towards the next set of dunes experimenting with some nice steep side slopes and some sharp ridges to cross. Maneuvering through the bushy area we drifted to Murquab and were welcomed by a tricky technical patch. After a few refusals,  stucks in the middle of convoy and a couple of amazing self recoveries executed by @Jessica Lambert we were back again onto the long range dunes.. Crossing through the DCT Waypoint 3 - it was pure Show Off time for the convoy , as we tried some back to back ridge crossing as well as rode through the ln of some sweet ridges.

As we reached the passage through the Murquab farms, it was time for Master to take over and for next 30 min, convoy swept through some awesome dunes and had chance to explore awesome play areas. Exactly as planned, we were back again on dust track at 10 and ended the drive with a smile - a morning well spent :)

Overall we travelled 48Km (a bit short of @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler estimate) at an average moving speed of 18Km/hr with a stoppage time of around 45min. which is a good indicator of how well the convoy handled the terrain.

Wrangler boys @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler @RiaanJH @Peter Hager had perfect drive.

@Mahmoud Taha and @Ashutosh Garg - hope you enjoyed the experience, refusals and stucks are what train us in self recovery process, i am sure our self recovery champion of the day  @Jessica Lambert will support me on this.

@Alfred Alinazar @Andrew McCarthy was nice catching up with you guys.

Thanks again to all of you for your support and patience with me. Looking forward to drive with you all sometime soon.

Vow @varunmehndiratta great observation. Indeed you lead most of the drive and I was happy to negotiate the convoy on dirt tracks 🤣😜

you lead so well , I just enjoyed being behind you. Well done and thanks for your feedback 🙏👍🏼
