Thank you @varunmehndiratta for a cracking drive yesterday. It was a good pace, helped by the fact we were a small convoy. And most of all, thank you for giving me the opportunity to be 2L. I don't get given that opportunity very often given I'm driving an LC! It was lot a fun and enjoyed watching how you chose the route.

To everyone else, was good to catch up and well driven to all. @Mario Cornejo last pop-out also provided a great learning experience for how to fix a pop out in a very awkward position.

@Imteeaz RTA also rejected my exhaust yesterday!

Haha @Tom B - get the stock ones on, seek RTA approval, and then change back.

    LOL

    Dear Sand Sailors

    @Imteeaz @Tom B @Mario Cornejo @MMansoor@Senthil Kumar @Charbel@Imran Kashif

Thanks for RSVPing for the drive. We have a short and strong convoy - a perfect setup for our planned exploration through the beautiful tall n steep dunes in Shuwaib.

I have been traveling and missed being on sand over last two weekends. So eagerly looking forward to hit the dunes and see you all on Sunday.
    cheers

@varunmehndiratta your drives are always full of excitement mate... lets keep it that way on Sunday.

Hi, yes, I have a kill switch installed and, from experience, it is the best option to disconnect traction control and ABS while going offroad.

Most garages know how to install one, just ask them for a clean install, without wires attahed to fuse legs or similar.  My car is going through some check ups, as soon as I get it back I will share a picture.

In the meantime, you can experiment in your next drive by disabling traction the way you do, VDC by pressing the switch next to gear shift and ABS by removing its fuse (car off and preferably no key).

    Hi Mario

Do you mind dropping me a text on 055 897 0942 to guide me to your garage that did the kill switch?

    Thanks

Hey guys, does this approach disable ABS too?

I personally prefer a kill switch for its convenience, just make sure you are talking with a good electrician who knows VTCs well 😉

I dont think it kills the abs mate.

do u recommend any specific garage for the kill switch?

Hi @Mario Cornejo, have you had a kill switch fitted? Can you recommend anyone that knows the VTCs well?

@Jonny90 mate that was the picture that you shared previously with Rob.

let me know if you managed to get the kill switch done for both traction and abs

@Gaurav I am driving a 2018 Super safari, can switching off the traction control switch inbuilt in my car would help me disable the traction control or do i need to remove the fuse or something, coz this traction control activates during side sloping and pulls be back reducing my momentum most of the times, Please advice.

@Sayed Bilal  the switch located near the gear knob does not kill the traction control completely.

I was lucky enough to have 2 team members advising me, after more than 40 drives using the above set-up, how to completely kill the traction control.

The switch is located right above your brake pedal; you need to press the brake then feel with your fingers for 2 small push switches.  Press the left one for 2s and the another traction control light will show on your dashboard.

Needless to say that your engine should be on; you need to repeat this (similar to the other switch next to the gear knob) every-time you switch off your vehicle.

Unfortunately holding the switch for longer does not change anything.

@ASAD.  I was planning to install a kill switch, but then got the solution from Sam and Rob; my AED350 stays in my pocket.

Drop me a Whatsapp on 0558970942 and i will share a short video as well.

  6. Amazing drive team.

Since the start, @Hisham Masaad was in the mood to push us to our (and cars) limits; I was struggling to keep up with his pace, and had to forget everything and keep my foot on the gas pedal to be able to climb these dunes.

The coffee break + dates (not planned) was most welcome.  I wish we could have more breaks like this in the future drives as it helped to have all of us getting together and really enjoying a break.

@Ranjan Das mate I hope that you will be able to get the Jeep fixed in no time; I understood that you were stressing out with the car - keep the faith mate.  I am sure that you will back in the sand in no time.

@Karthik Raptor  mate you show-cased the power of the V8 while pulling the Jeep through the dunes.  I am not sure what we could have done without you.  BIG THANKS buddy.

@Islam Soliman good to see you again mate.  I felt that your presence and calm provided all of us that extra peace of mind and direction while WE were all trying to find the shortest and easiest way out of the dunes to get to the meeting point for Ranjan to be able to call the recovery truck.  Your coordination and understanding with @Hisham Masaad was great.

@Waqas Parvez @ASAD. @Mohamad Anwer @Simon Dawood @Sunil Mathew @MMansoor @Abdelghani @Vaibhav  you all contributed to an amazing drive, which was short but sweet.  I am looking forward to drive with the same team in the near future.

Finally - it made me realised that we all leave our family in the morning (or afternoon) to come and enjoy a bit of sand and dunes, and that sometimes things do not go as planned.  The incident with @Ranjan Das car was a reminder for all of us that we should keep taking this as a hobby between buddies, and help each other when and where we can.  We all got together as a TEAM, and each of ones contributed positively in every way to this incident.

@Carnity  is not only a club for me (and for us); it is an opportunity for us to get together on a regular basis, enjoy a couple of dunes, and then sit down and enjoy a coffee.

On a side note, I managed to get my RTA approval today.  I had to replace the valvetronic with the stock muffler yesterday.  As I am writing, the garage is busy putting back the new muffler.

    Cheers gents

...that really makes sense :D I hate that feeling...

    Thank you @GauravSoni buddy. As I understand, there are 3 types with Dobinson;

    1- Base one with around 3 - 3.5k cost

2- Mid one around 4.5 - 5k cost, adjustable (MRA, I think this is yours, right?)

    3- Top one with reservoir 7 - 8k

I am planning to visit Adihex tomorrow to check for prices. Honestly I don't want to spend too much for such an old girl. So what do you think about base one?  Is adjustment feature really worth to go with?

If you are not switching to different adjustment between off-road / traffic, do you think non-adjustable base one annoys too much on the paved road?

The MRA is one with the reservoir- top of the range.  The middle range is the IMS version.  Twin tube is the entry level.

I have not changed the settings up to now - dont need to as i am enjoying the on-road and off-road drives with the same settings.

I personally feel the MRA is an overkill (but still cheaper than the like of Kings or Fox ...); however i did not want to go for the mid-range and later on have second thoughts.

There is an offer from Dobinsons right now - check their Insta page.

    Snip below.

  8. @Mehmet Volga Though I do not have a Pajero, I concur with notes from @GauravSoni.

I have had Dobinsons MRA + 2" lift + 50mm spacers (H&R) couple of weeks ago; I could feel the difference in desert.  The car is less 'jumpy' and tends to keep you in contact with the sand more.

The above arrangement cost me roughly AED 10K.

There is a promotion going on at Dobinsons now; it may be worth giving them a call.

For the spacers, I checked the reviews for other brands and recommendations on 4x4 groups; do not take chances with these minor stuff when off-roading.

  9. @varunmehndiratta thank you for such a memorable experience for my first IM drive; I was so relieved that I managed to sort out couple of items in my car (disable 100% traction control + better suspension) prior to this drive.   The pace was fast, with lots of quick turns while climbing in 1st gear.

After the drive, I was completely drained; from the constant focus and the heat as well.

    Shout all to all members on this drive - THANK YOU - @Morshedi@Ahmad Shaker @Fabien Monleau @ASAD. @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler @Anoop Nair  @Waqas Parvez @MMansoor @Vaibhav @Looper

@Zixuan Huang - Charlie  I hope that you managed to get your car fixed.

    Cheers gents
