  3. As Always, you cannot be disappointed when driving with @Hisham Masaad especially in Badayer!!.

the drive was a bit more challenging than usual  as the sand was much softer . but nonetheless, we had an exceptionally capable convoy that drove amazingly well with confidence.

by the way, It was a bit intermediating for me driving with such good drivers

     @Zixuan Huang - Charlie @Charbel @Fabien Monleau @Rob S @Tom B @Amir Amiri @Chris Wing

@Lawrence_Chehimi especially I was the Only PAJERO in the convoy  😂🤣

thanks @JeromeFJ for the support and sweep . its always a pleasure driving with you.

see you all soon in the sand

After speaking to @Ranjan Das and analyzing the symptoms I believe its due the the MAF sensor becoming dirty. He self services his air filter and probably one of the times didn't close the air box properly seated and maybe the MAF sensor got dirty. The symptom he described was when climbing uphill straight and when he floors the accelerator the engine RPM cuts down from 4500 and he loses power. MAF sensor tells the ECM how much air is being pulled into the intake manifold at what temperature and ECM sends the signal to the injectors to spray the fuel as per the data input from the MAF sensor. If the data is incorrect because the sensor is dirty the ECM cannot instruct the injectors to speed up the spray and its duration which results in loss of power. As per him, his garage said it maybe because of abnormal rise in engine coolant temperature while doing extreme climbing but he said there is not much difference showing in the temp gauge.  Also if the engine temperature shoots up like his garage said it will take some time for the fans & the radiator to cool it down to operating temperature.

Anyways I told him to clean the MAF sensor and observe the result in this drive.

    Let us wait and see.

In my case, after pushing my car 2 hours in the desert i will loose the capability to drive up long dunes .

I have an obd monitor installed that allowes me to monitor the temp and other information recieved from the car ecu like The MAF and AfR , transmission temp and coolent temp.  And what i noticed is  that all the readings are not changing much during power loss episodes except the coolent temp increases from 77 to  (between  95 to 108 °c i lose power) for the gauge in the dashboard this temp is still normal.

I think you should use a Bluetooth obd and monitor the temp live.

if you are facing this issue when temp is high then you will  know where to look for a solution.

    Thanks,

Thank you to all the drivers for a superb day in the desert. It was a long drive to reach the sand, but hey with no pain there is no gain. As mentioned in the briefing this was an area that I had in mind for the longest time, but perhaps it needed the kind of convoy that we had today to enjoy it to the fullest.

A "warm up" at Old Lady Dune did set the tone for the drive, criss crossing on top of it was indeed special as you need a strong heart to do it, and I thank everyone for putting their trust and executing it so well.

Some of those bowls and ridge were an absolute off-roaders delight and to have them so clean without bumps was like icing on a cake.

@Warren Flay @Simon Dawood @ASAD. @Naveen Raj @ShereenMK @Gregory @Tom B @Mus_hus78@Karthikeyan Govindarajan once again thank you and look forward to seeing you on another episode of Sweihan Adventures.

P.S. @Simon Dawood I second the suggestion of Warren 😂

@Srikumari will give my Pajero another chance to correct her attitude on the long dunes . but first i will need take her to the spa 😂

@Srikumarit was great to see you again in happier (suspension) circumstances. The old girl was really on form today and she showed the Gadgero a clean pair of heels and taught her a few lessons in light weight/high traction physics!  It's a long grind from home to the mighty Sweihanistan mountains but well worth the time and fuel for me, it's just majestic. It really is good for the soul to see the dunes sailing off into the far far distance in the early morning light...

The sand was wind groomed and very soft, many times I had rooster tails of sand flying from both ends as the Gadge scrambled to follow the leaders path and frequently had to opt for a variation as the nose kept plowing and refusing to answer the helm :-(

Considering the high speed challenge that was laid down to the team today, everyone drove really well with few stucks and only a soft serving of refusals (I cannot imagine it was easy at number 10 with how soft it was at number 2!). @Simon Dawoodmaybe it's time to trade up to a 40 year old Jeep Cherokee? lol (jut kidding bro). Great to hear @Tom B chuckling away on the radio while the mighty Yamato booms and thunders along at the rear, shaking the earth and helping to slow the earth's rotation.

Thanks to all the NASCAR pit crew for swinging in to place and repairing my pop out in what seemed like record time, I have no excuse for blasting my tyre off other than "I was trying to follow Srikumar" lol.

Great to catch up with some old faces like @Mus_hus78who I haven't driven with for a while and looking forward to getting back into the 'mountains' again soon!

@Warren FlayWell said , except for the jeep part 🤣😂

    Dear Friends

Thank you so much for being ahead of time and I apologise for the little delay of mine . After the quick briefing we started moving north and east toward the rising sun which surprisingly still cool at this time of the year. Warming up forth and back before we join the Baja for a short segment to enter after it to practice some technicality where every one did great . Taking our first coffee break on the large sabkha

    image.jpeg.398465ba7ba073aea40e2dcbdb5b9a15.jpeg

moving on toward the long range dunes of murqab sloping , crossing , bowling till we got a pop out of our sweep which was fixed on no time by the collective effort of the team . Driving and driving toward Lisaili as planned and started to feel my steering heavy to realize a leak hope it’s from the cap only . Topped it up and moved again however and before reaching half way as Murqab was still in my rare view I decided to end the drive in Murqab instead of lisaili as every one never disagreed with me . Looping with convoy crossing over and over from hard to slip direction . Just before the last dune to the track i got bogged in a sideway slip side which was managed by a gentle tug .

@ASAD. You were the perfect second lead so vigilant and anticipating the next move even before announcing it on radio . Pleasure driving with you bro

nice to see you after a while and didn’t feel like you were doing your first Fb+ to me . Well done . The new FJC suites your style

@Felix Obst pleasure driving with you after quite a while , flawless 👍

@Simon Dawood it seems the best day and example of harmony between you and your Pajero no issue at all . Pleasure

@Joseph Raju, @Karthikeyan Govindarajanand @Joji varghese first time we meet what a pleasure . Guys you rocked in the back

@Rajiv Sam thanks for watching our back as usual you are always ahead of your official level . Well done

last but not least I would like to thank @Lawrence_Chehimi for being there when ever needed . Thank you for the tug😉

I will take my X for check up this afternoon hope nothing is serious .

till we meet take care and drive safe

    cheers

    Dear Desertnauts.

I thank you all for the enthusiastic participation to Rush Hour 4. While looking at the waiting list I have had an idea that I would like to present to all drivers, the conformed signed up ones, and the waitlisted. If all, or most, agree, I will proceed as below:

I will extend the drive to 10 cars, hence confirming the following CONVOY 1:

    @Zixuan Huang - Charlie, @Vaibhav, @Daniel Rodas, @varunmehndiratta, @Prakash Anoop, @topgear, @Rob S, @Alexanderrr PLUS @KAMALIO and @Chinthaka Ruwan

I will open up the drive to the next 10 waitlisted drivers, hence creating a new CONVOY 2:

    @Naim Aoun, @Ashok chaturvedi, @munkybizness, @Simon Dawood, @Shaker, @ASAD., @Waqas Parvez, @Pacific, @Anoop Nair and @Ranjan Das

    Convoy 1 will:

    1. meet up at Qudra's Last Exit at 2:00 PM, and will "rush" to reach Ghantoot's exit point
    2. start the drive exactly at 2:30 PM
    3. plan to end the drive at 4:30 PM sharp
    4. in case the full distance between Qudra and Ghantoot has not been covered, there is a track on a sabkha available for a quick exit to Ghantoot

    Convoy 2 will:

    1. meet up at Ghantoot starting point at 4:30 PM, corresponding the Convoy 1's exit, and will "rush back" to Qudra's Last Exit
    2. start the drive exactly at 5:00 PM
    3. plan to end the drive at 7:00 PM
    4. also, if the drive will not have reached Qudra's Last Exit, we'll take the closest exit on Bab al Shams Road

This will allow 2 convoys to drive within the "Rush Hour" format, on the Qudra to Ghantoot route and vice versa, with only me commuting back and forth. It will be a relay of sorts, with the goal of accommodating all drivers into this exciting format.

I would like to ask each of you, both confirmed and waitlisted drivers, to please acknowledge the above idea, and confirm your presence in the allocated convoy. I will proceed to open up the drive to all those who agree with the above format, hence confirming the convoys above (or part of them, if not all agree).

Thanks a lot for your prompt consideration and reply. Have a great Sunday.

Dear @Ale Vallecchi with great disappointment i will have to withdraw my name from the drive for tomorrow, due to some family engagements  . i wish you all a  great ,fun and safe drive . i hope i will make it next time .

    thanks,
